Abstract
This research note examines how university students organize judgments about “who harasses whom” when the survey instrument fixes the alleged perpetrator’s sex and introduces the label “homosexual.” The analysis draws on 2,358 questionnaires administered in 2019 at the Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Morelos. The module documents thresholds of discomfort regarding sexually connoted interactions: 43% report being “very” bothered by non-consensual touching. The core results show a consistent reordering of perceived perpetration: “men” are primarily linked to heterosexual women (52.2%) and “women” to heterosexual men (55.3%); “gay men” are attributed mainly to heterosexual men (37.3%), and “gay women” to heterosexual women (32.5%). These patterns suggest that perceived perpetrator sexual orientation structures students’ imaginaries and raises challenges for institutional prevention and response.
