Abstract
This paper proposes a multi-methodological approach to Social Representation Theory at a level of theory and method. At a theoretical level the papers propose a structural and processual approach of social representation. Moreover, is problematized the importance of considering the classes of objects of representation (personal-object) previous develop a study of a representational object. At a methodological level the article presents two studies with aim to propose and linked kind of analysis thorough software EVOCATION and IRAMUTEQ 7 in social representations. A study involved, 322 students (52% women and 48% men) with an average of 16.5 years (SD = .84) and responded a of free evocation questionnaire. Another study involved, 10 students (5 women and 5 men) with an average of 17 years (SD = .77) and responded an interview. The results show the importance of develop studies of social representation using different perspectives. Thus, the central elements allow us to understand the structure academic failure through elements such as financial support and the consequences of failure. The contents and meanings allow us to delve into the construction of academic failure. Students have a perspective that ranges from the individual to the interpersonal. Individually, failure is built as an educational self-sabotage. At the interpersonal level, academic failure is linked to the figure and teaching practice.
